AIM TWO Focus on EVALUATION

AIM TWO: to plan, implement, and prospectively evaluate both new and current programmatic efforts among CCHF-related ministries based on one of the following:
· · Ministries who want to replicate a documented AIM ONE Best Practice
· · Programs in their early stages
· · Programs in their mid-life that do not currently contain strong evaluation components
We are looking for:
(1) Ministries that desire to replicate a Best Practice already documented in AIM ONE AND/OR
(2) Submissions of programs (in development or in progress) for which your health center could use some technical assistance in developing prospective evaluation tools and benchmarks.

Why should your health center participate?

· Improvement: CCHF has several experienced researchers who will work with you to help develop appropriate evaluation components of your program. This will help your ministry to think critically about itself and improve upon your efforts.
· Resources: By documenting the effectiveness of your programs, you can help other health centers replicate your successful model by making this information available.
· Funding: As you document your health center's outcomes and learn about best practice outcomes, your clinic will be better positioned to successfully compete for funding support. Foundations want to fund programs that obtain outcomes. This initiative could help you win more funding support.

What will be expected of your health center?

· Submit your request according to the AIM TWO Guidelines below.
· If your abstract qualifies as an AIM TWO PROGRAM, you will work closely with the CCHF staff to develop the evaluation tools.
· As outcome data is available, the Best Practices Program staff will help document the progress of your program for inclusion of the program model in sharing our findings with the Bureau of Primary Health Care.

What resources will CCHF provide to your health center?

· Technical Assistance: You will receive substantial coaching from CCHF's Best Practices staff and consultants. If necessary, the staff will visit your site to assist you with the development of appropriate evaluation tools for your program
· Workshops: You will be invited to attend 2 Workshop Sessions per year, (including an upcoming Conference in November!) to help with your planning. CCHF will provide a stipend to defray your travel expenses
· Program Funding: CCHF and the Collaborative's members will be working to identify potential areas of funding to support your initiatives.
· Publication: CCHF may use your outcome data for inclusion in articles and workshop presentations describing the results of the AIM TWO aspect of this Project.

How does your health care ministry sign up?

· Apply for technical assistance: Follow the AIM TWO Guidelines below.

AIM TWO GUIDELINES:
There are two ways to apply for AIM TWO technical assistance:
1. REPLICATE a program from AIM ONE Best Practices:
· Contact the Best Practices staff at CCHF
· CCHF will facilitate dialogue with the contact person of the AIM ONE Best Practice
· Best Practices Program staff will offer technical assistance to incorporate appropriate evaluation tools
· A Best Practices Program staff person will make a site visit, if necessary, to facilitate implementation of the program
OR
2. INTEGRATE evaluation tools and assessments into your new or existing programs
· Submit a 1-2 page description of the program for which you would like to receive technical assistance
· Include in the 1-2 page description
a) Background and description of the issue or need for which the program is a response. What is the program's purpose?
b) What measurable objectives does the program currently have? What information do you have on outcomes?
c) What kinds of data on the program do you currently collect?
d) What resources do you have? (eg. Computers, Microsoft Access or Excel, people who've done evaluation before)
· Focus on activities/programs which are a part of operating your ministry; things you are doing to improve health care activities and health outcomes; and programs addressing the needs of specific sub-groups of your population
