Health
and Development and The Apprentice
Created for Christians in the health professions concerned about
the poor, Health and Development is an excellent quarterly
publication that provides a forum for a variety of voices to be
heard. Providers, psychologists, and pastors alike share about
their vision, passions, struggles, and fascinating findings.
The Apprentice is more specifically geared towards health
professions students. Health professionals and students tell of
lessons learnt from schooling and experience, give advice on considering
a career path, and talk of opportunities for challenge and growth.

Upholding
the Vision
What is it that led you to pursue a career in health care? Was
it the power and prestige? Was it the money? Or was it a desire
to serve? Have the pressures of training been so great that you
have lost sight of what initially brought you into the health
profession?
Upholding the Vision is a 160-page reader that reminds
the health professional of your calling to serve Christ, not medicine.
These stories will encourage and help you to more deeply understand
the needs in our society. While designed especially for use by
student groups, Upholding the Vision is relevant to those
interested in serving the poor in training and beyond. Cost: $1
for students; $5 for non-students plus $3.50 for handling and
shipping.
The
Experience of Being Poor
This video is a graphic and compelling description of one family's
experience attempting to gain access to the health care system
in Chicago, and the resulting feelings of powerlessness. The Experience
of Being Poor is a videotape version of a presentation by Teresa
Diaz-Maldonado at the 1987 CCHF conference in Chicago. Cost: $8
plus $3.50 for handling and shipping.
