Have you completed your undergraduate education?  Do you want to learn more about distinctively Christian healthcare for the underserved before you advance to your next stage of training?  Consider a “gap year” at a CCHF clinic or in a neighborhood where they serve. Get rooted in your faith and calling as you serve as an intern.

 

Christ Community Health Services, Augusta, GA 

Christ Community seeks to proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and demonstrate His love by providing affordable, quality primary health care to the underserved of Augusta. We offer 2 full-time, paid gap year internships as a medical scribe and quality improvement/medical director assistant. Interns will gain clinical experience, be discipled by healthcare providers, and learn about the needs in primary care for the poor and underserved. The goal is to develop a Kingdom vision to use one's gifts to "Do justice and love mercy" through healthcare for these communities.

Christ Community Health Services, Memphis, TN

College graduates can learn about incarnational ministry as they pray and seek Christ for their "next steps". The urban medical year intern works full-time, primarily alongside providers recording patient encounters in the electronic health record and facilitating patient flow by documenting patient encounters, but also completing an 11-month medical advancement curriculum. Interns spend 6-9 shifts/week alongside providers, and 1-2 shifts/week doing medical advancement (shift=4hrs).  https://recruiting.paylocity.com/Recruiting/Jobs/Details/190704

Love Thy Neighborhood is an urban missions agency for young adults, ages 18-30, impacting homelessness, the adult entertainment industry, crisis pregnancy, orphan care, healthcare, refugees, construction & low-income housing, education, neighborhood renewal, book editing & publishing, podcasting, visual arts, media & design and nonprofit leadership. We equip and mobilize the next generation of Christian leaders to work with the poor, the suffering and the marginalized in our city.  The Shawnee Christian Healthcare Center (SCHC) seeks to transform the community by sharing the love of Christ in word and deed, to facilitate community development and holistic healthcare through the empowerment of the residents in the community.

Medical Campus Outreach, Philadelphia, PA

Paid Internship: We are seeking a Godly person who is passionate about the basics of Christian discipleship and willing to be challenged by (sometimes) too smart for their own good health professions students with insanely busy schedules.  The applicant should be comfortable in a variety of settings such as one on one, small group, large group, church, hospital, and street corner (we do door to door medical/evangelistic outreaches and neighborhood health fairs several times a year). Hours/Salary:  $10/h, 15 hours per week; this is meant to supplement a full-time student or person with another part-time job. Ideal for a Bible School/Seminary/Healthcare students, or gap year people on a similar track.

Also: We accept Christian students or adults 19 years of age or older who desire to  experience ministry among the poor and marginalized. Interns (non-academic) are primarily used in the summer with our programs but are welcome to apply year round.  Please see the programs on this website to see if this is where God might be leading you to serve and join with us in experiencing the Kingdom.

 

Mission Waco - Waco, TX

This ministry provides Christian-based, holistic, relationship-based programs that empower the poor and marginalized. They mobilize middle-class Americans to become more compassionately involved among the poor. They seek ways to overcome the systemic issues of social injustice which oppress the poor and marginalized.

The summer includes Poverty Simulation, volunteer assignments (usually in several program areas based on program need and intern interests), weekly forums to learn about urban ministry issues, book discussions, bible study, learning goals, and more!. In the summer we offer full (8+ weeks) or partial (4-5-week) internships.
